Magic Mountain
In 1968, the Baron Michael Tossizza Foundation established one of Greece’s first chairlifts at Karakoli, near Metsovo. Evangelos Averoff envisaged it both as a major attraction for visitors and as a training slope for young people from Metsovo, many of whom went on to compete nationally and internationally.

The chairlift runs between approximately 1,340 m and 1,520 m above sea level, passing through magnificent forests of beech, poplar and mountain pine. The chairlift was designed and installed by Habegger of Thun, Switzerland, the leading Swiss lift manufacturer of the time. It has 82 single-seater chairs and can carry up to 395 people per hour to the peak of Karakoli.
As snowfall in the region has declined, Karakoli has gradually evolved from a winter ski facility into a year-round mountain park. Following its redevelopment in 2026, Magic Mountain offers visitors a new range of facilities and experiences centred on hiking, nature trails and environmental education. At the same time, Magic Mountain continues to create employment and business opportunities for the local community.

This is Magic Mountain: a 216,182 m² forested park, rich in flora and fauna, where visitors of all ages can explore and enjoy nature safely throughout the year, in the heart of the Pindus Range.
