Evangelos Averoff-Tossizza Foundation / The Averoff Museum of Modern Greek Art

From the outset, the Baron Michael Tossizza Foundation has been a steadfast supporter and sponsor of the Averoff Museum of Modern Greek Art in Metsovo.

Established by Evangelos Averoff-Tossizza through a sister foundation bearing his name, the Museum was inaugurated by him in Metsovo in 1988. Accredited by the Ministry of Culture, it presents a permanent exhibition of representative works by leading Greek painters, printmakers and sculptors of the 19th and 20th centuries, including Gyzis, Lytras, Volanakis, Iakovides, Parthenis, Maleas, Galanis, Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas, Moralis, Tetsis, and many others. It is regarded as one of the most comprehensive and significant holdings of 19th- and 20th-century Greek art.

Alongside its work to research, conserve and present its permanent collection, the Museum regularly organises temporary exhibitions, scholarly symposia, educational workshops and guided tours, and maintains an active publishing programme.
